eCommerce Websites

I have seen a lot of web design jobs that require an eCommerce site, and I have never built a site for eCommerce, and I wasn't sure how I would go about doing so. It seems that as long as I have a host that allows eCommerce, than that is all that I need, but then the main concern is pricing. One and One hosting service offers eCommerce, they have three different options.

Beginner Shops

This starts at 11.99 a month but with it, you can only have up to 50 products that you are selling, and only 5 categories of products. This also doesn't allow for inventory management, only order management. This also shows only 5GB of web space but unlimited traffic. Another downer is that there is no downloadable items that you can sell, you can't sell eBooks, photos, music, or anything else in your shop. You also can't have different variants of items, you can't offer things in different colors or sizes. Doesn't show additional items that they might want to consider buying nor do they allow discounts for special customers. This is literally for a very basic eShop.

Small to Medium Shops

This price is 30/month but it is also free for the first 3 months. This acutally allows 300 products and 30 categories of items which is significantly larger than the beginner shop deal that they offer. Unlike the first option, this allows both inventory and order management as well as being able to sell downloadable items such as eBooks, photos, and music. Customers can also sell variants of their items, such as shirts in pink blue and green and in varying sizes.  One things that they still can't offer is discounts to special customers, that is only allowed for eCommerce Professionals. They can also suggest other items that they have to customers when they are looking at certain items.

eCommerce Professionals

This is the most expensive plan, but it also offers the most. This is 50/month with the first 6 months free. This offers up to 20,000 products and 2,000 categories of items. This plan also offers both inventory and order management. This plan offers everything that the Small to Medium Shops plan offered, but more. This allows up to 80GB of web space, and only with this plan can you offer special discounts to certain special customers. This also allows you to create additional users and define the access they are allowed. This plan also offers 10 delivery zones for states and provinces.

These are the plans that are offered with only one web hoster. Different web hosters offer different plans and things in their packages, and it depends on the company and what they are trying to sell, how big they are, and etc, to determine which plan they should choose and who their web hoster should be. I chose to look at One and One web hoster because I am putting my own website on this host and so is a client that I am making a website for.
