Lois Lowry, another authors website
Another author to look at is Lois Lowry. I'm trying to compare different websites for authors, what kinds of information is on the site, and what kinds of designs and layouts that they use.
I actually like the way that she has her website set up. I think it has enough color to draw attention without letting everything else fall into the background. The image at the header of page with the logo changes every couple seconds and I think that's a cool animation to have on a website behind the logo, because it brings more color to the page and the logo. The navigation at the top of the page I like, because they make it look a little 3D and it the block pattern draws attention and look profession and organized, which goes well withe the rest of the design. The Testing! article at the top of the page also changes every couple seconds, out of sync of logo picture. The moving parts of the page adds a little to the page, because it helps draw attention to the page, and stops the page from being too boring that stays the same.
As for information, the changing article at the top is different links about her site, from new releases to her pictures and information about her. I like that she has more than just the links at the nav to draw attention to the important parts of her website. She uses that to shows people more in depth what the link is for. Also also has a calendar and email her section, that is for the users needs. I like the simple, yet interesting design that she uses for her site. Its basic, without looking too boring. As for the relationship between the website design and the subject, it doesn't tell me exactly what the purpose of the site is, it might be in her bio but still, based simply on the things on the page and the title, it doesn't tell me that she is an author and that this is her site for her books.
