So the first website is from Hood College. I've found that a lot colleges websites are really interesting in their designs, and in Hood's website what I really find interesting is the picture slider that they have. It shows several different pictures with captions that tell of what is going on in the picture and I like the way that it puts a lot of information in a small amount of space while still following basic design elements.
Above, you can see the picture slider, and it shows six different pictures, and it will automatically slide or the user can pick what picture they would like to see. Though the animations and special graphics I enjoy, I think the basic layout and color scheme does seem a little bland. Though I understand that blue and gray are the schools colors, they have so much space empty with nothing but one bland color and it makes the page look so crowded in the center but empty on the sides. All together though, as a website I also find it a little difficult to navigate but visually I like the layout. I understand that websites have to be professional, and though I usually prefer a more varied color scheme, I do like how the basic background colors allowed the pictures to pop more forcefully, which is important for a college's advertising. Though I can't seem to find the creator of this website, I do like the site overall, especially the animations, and I think all together it makes an affective college site because it captures attention to the pictures of students and campus, and shows the most important facts and information prominently.
