Today I'm looking at the company Dole, which is a fruit company. I wanted to take a break from looking at websites and start looking at different logos and so I chose Dole. The logo is actually very well known and recognizable and it is bright and colorful, which brings attention to it. I think the logo does a good job being distinctive and sort of describing the company without words. The sun inside of the "o" shows the connection to fruit, the fruit needs sun to grow, and the sun shows the natural growing of their fruit. The simplicity of the design makes it easy to reproduce but still is creative enough to draw attention.
In their website, they have a background image of an outdoor scene at like a farmhouse, and the logo is up in the clouds with the navigation. They have it perfectly inside of a cloud, which really brings out the logo and draws attention to it. The color of the bottom bar is the same shade as the background to the navigation at the top of the screen. This helps tie in the colors of the logo to the website and the sun in the logo matches the background image because they don't show any other sun in the image, just clouds and the farmhouse as well as people.
As you can see, they use a beautiful nature photo in the background which goes really well with what the company creates, it shows all types of fruits in the website when you look closely. There are broccoli as trees, an actual apple tree, a strawberry balloon, a pineapple cloud. All of these fruits are smoothly worked into the image without being overly ostentatious. The logo really does pop really well from the page simply because it is such a contrast from the white cloud background and the dark colors of the logo. Everything in the website seems to tie in together really well with the purpose of the company. The only bad things about this website is that with such a big background image, it takes a little longer to load because of the large file size.
