Richelle Mead's Entire Website

Richelle Mead's website really looks a lot more old school than most author websites today. Most websites use more coloring and photos to bring attention to their page, because sometimes a website about nothing but books can be boring, and uninteresting, but using video's, photos and other colors and animation to bring attention and interest in their site.

Her website uses only a few pictures along the side of the site, but the pictures don't match the page at all because they are dark colored, where everything else on the site is light colored, including the background and other photos. Her website doesn't seem to match her books or writing at all, and the site just doesn't seem to match everything else. She has a picture of herself, and besides her photo also, she has a few upcoming books that are coming out soon, but in the body of her home page she has a basic introduction, some info on the links and some new news, and that's about it.

Her navigation not only looks very simple and plain,  it doesn't draw a lot of attention to the different links that are available. She has links for her different important parts of her website, only having links at this top navigation station. Instead of having some of her navigation or even just an exact copy of her navigation at the bottom of her pages so that users don't have to scroll back up to the top, she uses one simple navigation.

To me, her entire site seems like a very basic design that you would learn in your first or second web design class, because it has a basic heading, basic horizontal navigation, an aside, and a body that is simply broken into a bigger part, and a small side bar for the new releases. I don't like this website for an author because it is too bland, too old school, and way to basic for my tastes. I think a website should more appropriately show her books and style with colors, images, and design, instead of using a basic layout and picking just random photos and information.
